Many individuals have attempted to make a mark within the political arena, but only few have worked towards developing and uplifting the standard of politics. One such leader stands out without any personal motive and works towards representing the under privileged and underrepresented. A man with a dynamic vision and a true philanthropist, Mr. Kishor Mehta.
Philanthropist and Social Activist,Mr. Kishor Mehta is a distinguishedChemical Engineer originally hailing from Gujarat, India. He earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Gujarat University in 1968 and Chemical Engineering degree from Texas A and M University, Kingsville, TX campus in 1972. Upon establishing a successful career, he realized a need for Indian Community Leaders in the Chicago area. He began distinguishing himself with various organizations in roles such as Chairman, President, Vice President, Executive Directorand has garnered numerous awards & recognitions.
Recently, his outstanding work and innovative accomplishments were recognized by the US based Organization, I Change Nation, and he was inducted and honored as a “World Ambassador of Civility 2019” for his contributions to our society for peace and civility throughout the world. The Award was presented on “World Civility Day” by the State Senate of Indiana and was recorded in The US House of Representatives Congressional Record. This designation reaffirmed Mr. Mehta’s commitment to diversity, unity, peace and increased civility for people from all walks of life.
For the past eleven years he holds the position of Chairman and servesvery actively for US Congressional 7th District’s Multi Ethnic Advisory Task Force (MEATF), working directly with US Congressman Danny Davis.The 7thCongressional district’s MEATF has members from twenty four ethnic communities including African Americans, Mexico, Latin Americans, Nigeria, Ghana, India, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Jordan, Middle East, Palestine, Korea, China, Japan, Philippines, Greece, Ukraineand plays a vital role in promoting and protecting minorities. Chairman Mehta firmly believes that the inclusion and promotion of minorities is not a political compulsion but a matter of ethics and necessity.MEATF focuses on issues of job creation, poverty, health care, education, youth and criminal justice reform.The organization is in a particularly diverse district. The 7th Congressional District is home to a host of world class cultural and higher education institutions and is home to the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Bulls, the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Black Hawks. The 7th Congressional District includes twenty-one hospitals, dozens of clinics and many world class research institutions and medical schools. But most importantly the 7th District is home to a diverse population with distinct and varied needs.
In addition to his work on MEATF, he is the Chairman for a bipartisan Organization called American Multi Ethnic Coalition (AMEC). AMECis a bipartisan national grassroots organization that empowers ethnic communities through social, educational, health care, economic and political initiatives. AMEC is commitedto the elimination of prejudgment and discrimination pertaining to race, religion, sex, ethnic origin and evolving together in this great nation.Mr. Mehta echoes this sentiment and strongly believes that the diversity of the American people is what makes this country great. Furthermore, he has served as the President of International American Friendship Society, Vice president of the Federation of Indian Association. (FIA), Board Member for the Gujarat Cultural Association and Bhram Samaj of Chicago.
In addition to his philanthropic and community building pursuits Mr. Mehta started a nationwide minority owned companyAdvance Career Tech (ACT)in 1992 working with biotechnology, pharmaceutical and chemical industry clients and candidates. ACT is a Chicago based full-service staffing firm dedicated to the placement of accomplished professionals for Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical & Engineering companies and all levels of Research Scientists, Medical Doctors for Clinical and Medical Affairs work and Chemical Engineers.
In his personal life Mr. Mehta has also been very blessed and is married to a prominent professional singer, Padma Mehta. Mrs. Mehta has been singing worldwide for forty-five years and has received countless awards and accolades in her own career. The couple has two daughters who have established themselves in their own distinguished careers as a Business Professional and an Attorney. Among his many joys and hobbies that include volley ball, cards, and movies spending time with his four loving grandchildren is always his highest priority.
As an immigrant who came to the United Stated with very little financial resource, he became a self-made respected public figure. He has made it his life’s work to ensure that everyone regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status have access to equal opportunities in the country that has provided him such a fulfilling personal and professional life.
